PALM DESERT, Calif. – August, 5, 2026 – A fresh culinary experience is coming to The Shops on El Paseo this August with the opening of Yozu Asian Bistro, a contemporary restaurant blending the vibrant energy of Tokyo's traditional izakaya culture with Desert Modern design.
An izakaya is a Japanese-style gathering place where guests enjoy a variety of shareable dishes alongside cocktails, often following shopping outings. Located in the former Shorebird Restaurant space at Monterey/Hwy74 and El Paseo, the bistro is in a prime location with convenient free parking behind the restaurant. The Yozu dining experience features a variety of small contemporary crafted dishes, sushi, sake and handcrafted cocktails designed to be shared with friends or during family gatherings.

In addition to the restaurant, the Cherry Blossoms open sushi bar is located upstairs. Cherry Blossoms features elegant accents inspired by one of Japan's most celebrated symbols of beauty and renewal of the Cherry Blossom. Guests will find freshly prepared hand rolls and nigari, with expertly curated sake.
Created by the culinary team behind Mole Mexican Kitchen and the Wild Thyme Group portfolio, Yozu's menu draws inspiration from Japan, Korea, China, and Southeast Asia. Guests can enjoy an array of shareable favorites with valued pricing, including Wok-fired shaking beef, Kurobuta pork belly fried rice, twice fried chicken, citrus achiote pad thai, Korean fried wings, sticky ribs, pork belly buns, and more.
